Intermediate for further glycosylation to make 2’-deoxynucleosides
Naturally-occurring RNA modified nucleoside m1acp3Ψ for vaccine and cancer research. It was first isolated from the RNA of cells of Chinese hamster in 1974 and was localized in 18S rRNAs. It has been found to be a required component for protein synthesis in Chinese hamster cells and other cells with a cytoplasmic nucleus. It was also shown to be synthesized in the cytoplasm of these cells, rather than in the nucleus as originally thought.
Mutagen; It has been shown to inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhimurium in vitro. It binds to the bacterial ribosome and inhibits protein synthesis, which results in cell death. This drug has not yet been tested for safety or efficacy in human.
