Naturally-occurring RNA modified nucleoside Gm for vaccine and cancer research. It is a component of many nucleic acids and is usually found as a minor component in RNA. It is produced in tRNAs by the action of tRNA guanosine-2’-O-methyl transferase, using S-adenosyl-L-methionine as a substrate. This modification increases the stability of RNAs and antisense drugs. It has been shown to be an inhibitor of DNA polymerase and an activator of RNA polymerase. This compound has also been shown to act as a competitive inhibitor for both wild-type and mutant bacterial strains, suggesting that it can inhibit DNA synthesis in bacteria by binding to the enzyme’s active site. |
